If you get outside the Langhe in Piedmont, there are some wonderful expressions of Nebbiolo. In the upper Piedmont you have Lessona and Bramaterra and Azienda Agricola Sella are regarded as one of the very best exponents of these wines. They are Nebbiolo based and are sometimes blended with a small amount of Croatina and Vespolina. They don’t have the raw power of Barolo and are usually a degree or two lighter in alcohol. They are based on perfume and finesse but have the potential to age for many, many decades, like Barolo. We have a small parcel of aged wines from Azienda Agricola Sella, direct from Piedmont. . These are rare and wonderful bottlings and we encourage all of you Nebbiolo lovers to grab a bottle or two.
