The estate's 2009 Barbera d'Alba Superiore is one of the deepest, richest and darkest wines I have tasted from this vintage. Still an infant, it bursts from the glass with raspberry jam, cloves and French oak, all wrapped around a serious, intense frame. Sweet, silky tannins frame the opulent finish. This is a decidedly flashy, extroverted wine for Vajra, uncharacteristically rich and poulet, but beautiful if taken on its own terms. (Drink between 2014-2029). 92 points. Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
