One of the most engaging, powerful red wines we have tasted in a long time is the 2017 Alois Trebulanum Casavecchia di Pontelatone Riserva. This is Alois from Campagnia’s top red wine offering, made from the indigenous variety of Casavecchia. It is deep dark and inky, just 13% alcohol and loaded with dark cherries. There's a mineral/iron note and a glossy feel against the gums. It is savoury and layered and full of interesting stony nuance. It is very pure, very long and very good. JH 2023
