This wine has a translucent garnet-red colour, with warm, refined scents reflecting both savoury and fruit notes: look out for cranberry and pomegranate as well as forest mushrooms and warm leather. On the palate, this is a shapely and graceful wine in which the fruits and the finely chamfered tannins are in perfect alignment after an extended ageing period, with 36 months in wood rather than the requisite 18 months (the total ageing period must always be at least 38 months). This is a beautifully mannered Barolo of restraint and refinement, perfect for drinking over the short to medium term. 97 points, Decanter.
