Thibault's 0.3 hectare sit mid-slope – Goldilocks style – in this unusual terroir where the top of the hill has more earth than the bottom. He uses 40% whole cluster for freshness, but then again, there's a good bit of limestone to help as well. There is a robust berry fruit core surrounded by sultry spice, aged meat and a hint of bonfire. This is a seductive Corton. 96 points. Tim Atkin MW.
