This wine is 100% Roussanne off a Greenock vineyard grown on its own rootstock. It is fermented with natural yeasts and is raised in larger format French oak. It is unfiltered and unfined and cloudy but fine (to coin a Coopers brewery advertising slogan). It has a fresh nose of lemon and grapefruit, with some lantana and wild mint. The palate is intense and direct and textural. There's preserved citrus notes and loads of saline minerality. It is a dry, tangy wine of good character and length. The Halliday Wine Companion gives the wine 92 points and says “Yelland & Papps do these chug-em-down styles so well, and there is a lot of interest and drinking enjoyment here”. We reckon that under its screwcap closure you will easily get another 3-5 years of drinking pleasure. JH 2025
