They have a solera system of reserve wine and some of the wine from it makes up this cuvee, much like Jacques Selosse’ Substance. The resultant Champagne is thrilling. It is 100% Meunier, 2018 base (20%), 80% reserve wine (a non-perpetual reserve wine starting in 1978 in large oak, moved to stainless vat number 23 in 2004). Disgorged May 2024. Super complex, with notes of preserved lemon, chalk, vegemite, white peach and flowers. Powerful and rich. Layered and intense. Oozes saline minerality and has some almond butter through the mid. Every sip unlocks another fruit or mineral nuance. Great acid drive and oh so long. JH 2024
